Despite the large number of articles devoted to backups and their importance, it is not the only service Files.fm provides — far from it. One of the less-known but useful functions of Files.fm website is file sending. We offer an easy and intuitive way to share files with your friends or colleagues.
For private users
Share your files easily
If you are a student sharing their files with study group members, a grandma wishing to see more photos of your grandkids or a freelancer working on several projects, this function will come handy for you. Any Files.fm user can transfer their files to any other user without uploading them to your e-mail, sending long links or making sure that others can download the photos. If both the sender and the receiver have an account on Files.fm, the files can be sent with just a couple of clicks — just click “Send files” in their profile, select the files you wish to send and they will appear immediately in the other account.
Important note: you can easily switch off the file sending function in your profile if you do not wish to receive files from other users. On the other hand, if you wish to receive files from people who do not have Files.fm accounts, you can allow any visitor to upload files to your profile. Furthermore, nobody can access your files if you do not send them to other users — they are as safe as ever.
Create your memory box
While not the original intended use, this is a great way to create a separate profile or a “memory box” for important photos, videos and documents, e.g. to look back at how your child has grown through years or to keep safe scanned photos of the early days of your grandparents’ marriage. It is a safe and secure way to keep your files available for people who are not so tech-savvy: while your grandma might not follow a link sent to her e-mail with the most recent photos, you can set up a Files.fm account on her computer and provide regular updates of photos — all she has to do is access the profile.
Share your work with clients and bosses
For professionals, internal file sending is useful in projects with large files: it is faster and easier than uploading a file to a storage space and then sending the link in a separate e-mail. It also makes sharing several files (e.g. projects with regular updates) easier: just send the new version.
For business users
Get your customers’ files
Files.fm offers file transfer services for business users — companies who need to regularly receive files from clients. It is possible to create a file upload form and get photos, print jobs and large files from customers in a convenient way. File upload form is well-suited for working in teams with highly specialized members (all team members can send their files to a project manager) or educational institutions (students can upload their files for a professor to evaluate).
Collect information from your visitors
When you make a business profile, a file upload form can be created. It can be used within Files.fm or embedded in another website. You can easily customize the file form — change its form, content, colors and other characteristics — and insert it on your website without any programming skills. The form is useful not only for receiving files but also for collecting specific information that you need — you can define or create additional fields that the user must fill. When a customer, client, team member, student or other user visits your website, they will see the file upload form and upload the files. Files are stored on Files.fm servers, and you can visit your profile on Files.fm to see them. Your e-mail will also receive a notification that a new file is uploaded.
Our team at Files.fm works every day to make your file sharing easier, more intuitive and simpler. With just a few clicks, you can improve the lives of people around you and make your own workspace more comfortable.
